why body recomposition changes everything
and the kind of mom I'm trying to be while I do it - whats on my mind lately!
a little peek at whats been on my mind this week! i wrapped up with a couple of the women from my 8 week macro group that i’ve been working with, and i’ve been thinking about them all day.
and here’s the thing I saw with them (and a lot of the women I talk to online), neither of them had a bunch of weight to lose. they were already working out, eating what most people would call healthy. from the outside, they were doing everything “right.”
but something wasn’t clicking and they knew it, they knew they could do BETTER!
here’s the problem I constantly see with busy women, moms (& I've been there) they were running on fumes. they were pouring all this effort into their workouts, but their food wasn’t lining up with what their body was actually doing. they were under-fueling and over-exercising and then wondering why they felt stuck, tired, and frustrated in their own skin.
& the approach for this? it’s so backwards some people think I'm CRAYZ! lol - stop trying to diet & eat as little as possible, eat MORE, more nutrition, protein, carbs, more nourishment… and more REST! why? we’re trying to match fueling to their life and goals
—> this is what we do together in my 8 week macro coaching (personalized to YOU) use code “100JULY” for $100 off through the end of July if you’re ready for transformation like this!
here’s what happened… the physical changes were INCREDIBLE! decrease in body fat (losing weight from FAT not muscle), gained lean muscle, decreased body fat percent, lower visceral fat (you know, that annoying abdominal fat that won’t go away..) their clothes fitting differently & the people around them noticing! REAL visible body recomposition in eight weeks, AND.. without being “perfect” the whole time. this part may shock you….
this is something I want to yell from the rooftops until every woman hears it:
the scale can barely move while your entire body is transforming.
so if you’re chasing that one number and feeling defeated because it won’t budge, please hear me!! that number is NOT the whole story. losing fat, building muscle and feeling strong is the story. the scale is honestly one of the least helpful things yet we put SO much power in it
but you want to know what really got me?? the biggest shift they had (& what many women experience) wasn’t just the physical changes, it’s the mental shifts & mindset that happens so they can KEEP showing up!
what kind of mindset shifts? just imagine this: by the end, the food guilt was gone. they could go out to eat and actually enjoy it. have birthday cake with their kid and then get right back to their goals the next day without spiraling. they finally understood that you do NOT have to be all-or-nothing to see results. that balance is real. that you can live your actual life AND work toward what you want at the same time!
one of them told me she finally feels at home in her body. like herself again. confident, and like she actually knows what she’s doing now. and i honestly could have cried, because THAT is the whole reason i do this.
i’ll be real with you, i’d had a couple of tough weeks before these calls. some downer moments where i questioned things. and I'm SO thankful that these women have reignited everything for me, because this is the work. not shrinking women. not putting them on another diet. helping them fuel their body, get stronger, and feel free around food.
and can i be honest? i’m right there with you. i’m in my thirties, trying to do all the things, and i see it constantly, everyone chasing weight loss, wanting the fast way, the quick fix. and i’m over here doing it the slow way, the natural way, actually eating and lifting and fueling and resting. and some days it would be so easy to want the shortcut too.
but here’s what i keep coming back to: there is something to be said about putting in the reps. the hard, consistent work of fueling yourself and moving your body and actually taking care of it. because THAT’S what builds real confidence!! that’s where the strength and the empowered feeling come from. you can’t shortcut your way into feeling at home in your body. you kind of have to earn it, and then it’s YOURS.
and that’s exactly what i want to model for my girls.
i’m raising two daughters. and it is sooo important to me that they never watch their mom diet, punish herself, or talk about her body like it’s a problem to fix. in our house, we don’t talk about weight. we don’t call foods good or bad. we talk about foods that help us feel good, foods that keep us strong. my girls already know protein helps them be strong and fruit helps them feel good. and we also get chick-fil-a. we have ice cream. we do all of it, because that’s balance, and that’s what i want them to grow up thinking is normal.
because here’s the truth a lot of us are sitting with:
so many of us are millennial women who are STILL untangling the diet trauma we inherited from the generation before us. we grew up around the body comments, the “good” and “bad” foods, the shrinking. and we’re trying to unlearn it for ourselves AND make sure we don’t hand it down to our kids.
that’s the real reason body recomposition matters so much to me. it’s not about a smaller body. it’s about a strong one, and a peaceful relationship with food, and being the kind of woman my daughters get to watch and learn from.
you can love your life, enjoy your food, work on your goals, and grow more confident in your body day by day, all at the same time. you don’t have to hate your body to change it. you don’t have to shrink to feel good. and you definitely don’t have to hand your struggle down to the next little girl watching you.
that’s the work. and it’s the best work i know.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
if any of this hit home and you want a simple place to start (not a diet, just a few doable shifts to feel like yourself again), my free 5-day reset is the perfect first step. it’s completely free, and it’s exactly the kind of “stop overthinking it and just start” that so many women need.
if this resonated comment below I want to hear from you! & share with a friend, your support means the world to me!!
